Plot

The plot is the chain

of events that 

make up a story.

 

 

Parts of the Plot:

 

Exposition:  This is the introduction to the story, it is where the characters, setting, and inciting incident are revealed to the reader.

 

          Inciting Incident:  The event that sets the story in motion, it makes             the rest of the story possible.  The problem is discovered.

 

Rising Action: The main part of the story, moves the plot along,            

          complications arise to make story interesting.

 

Climax:  The most exciting part of the story, where the problem is met head on, usually a turning point.

 

Falling Action (Denoumant): The problem is being solved.

 

Resolution: The end of the story, loose ends of the plot are tied up, remaining questions are answered, conflicts are resolved.  Sometimes, a new conflict is introduced.
