Close Reading Strategy

 

 

What does it look like?

 

 

1. Read to get the "gist" of a story or an article.

                             the overall meaning

        Circle words that I do not know.

 

2. Read the text paragraph by paragraph.

                 "Annotate" as you read to help me better understand.

                  Take notes, Use context clues to figure out unknown                                                  words

 

3.  Cite evidence from the text to answer questions.

 

 

4.  Summarize the passage to show my understanding.
