Story Conflict
A struggle between opposing forces or characters
*Without a conflict the story would be boring
*Stories can have several conflicts
*The main conflict is central to the plot and ususlly resolved at the resolution.
Identifying Conflict
Internal/Interior Conflict: A struggle that occurs within a characters own mind.

External/Exterior Conflice: A struggle that occurs between a character and an outside force.

Examples:
Joe kicks John: External, Man vs Man
Julie can not decide which boy she wants to date: Internal, Man vs Himself
Katie gets caught in a thunderstorm without an umbrella: External, Man vs Nature
Hu and her husband wnat three children, but in China, couples are only allowed to have one child to help control their population size and are penalized if they have more than one: External, Man vs Society
Maniac Magees parents die in a trolley crash when he is two years old: Man vs fate
